Community Enhancement and Revitalization Flat Branch Pedestrian Bridge and Trail The Flat Branch area was the site of the first homesteads of the City of Columbia, Missouri. It was adjacent to this area that the central business district evolved. In addition an MKT railroad spur from the mainline track along the Missouri River terminated at this location. Long neglected in the past, the City of Columbia Parks and Recreation Department has developed the area into a hiking/biking trail head, park, and playground area. Allstate Consultants designed a 50 foot span cable suspension pedestrian bridge with a concrete deck and connecting sidewalks over Flat Branch Creek. Duties included design and construction administration.
