Water Engineering Marceline Water System Improvements The City of Marceline with the assistance of Allstate Consultants initiated a plan in the late 1990’s to reconstruct their public water supply system as the City serves as a regional water supplier to users in parts of three counties via Chariton-Linn Co PWSD #3. The first item was to construct a new 2.16 MGD two stage clarification water plant at a total project cost of $4,000,000. Secondly, the plan initiated an MDNR Approved Owner Plan to replace water mains and to date the City has replaced nearly 20,000 linear feet of water mains throughout the community at an approximate construction cost of $500,000. Construction of a new 250,000 gallon elevated water storage reservoir at an approximate cost of $800,000 was the third item in the plan which was constructed in 2005. Final design for improvements to the raw surface water system are being completed at this time by replacement of raw water mains, installation of control valves, and improvements to the raw water pumping systems. Total cost of the raw water system improvements is expected to be approximately $750,000. Allstate Consultants has also completed a preliminary report for obtaining raw water from wells in the Missouri River Bottom area.
